The Setup

Point of Sale systems are costly and out of reach for many of the smaller corner stores in Mexico. This native Android mobile app was designed to work with a card reader dongle and provided an affordable alternative for small mom-and-pop conveinience stores in Mexico called "Tienditas" to accept credit cards.

The Approach

As a senior designer I was tasked with the visual design and user experience of the app. Some important considerations needed to be made early in the process such as making sure there was adequete space for translation to Spanish, and also to keep the final design light as the app would need to continue to function with low or intermittant cellular connections. Creating wire frames helped to work through each flow.

The Solution

I took a very minimal approach to the final designs and opted to use lots of white with with only splashes of color and iconography to highlight important information. This helped to keep the download size of the app small and minimized the load times when doing transactions.
